One and Six Year Streets and Highways Improvement Program

Public Hearing Notice

A City Council public hearing for the One and Six Year Streets and Highways Improvement Program is scheduled for:

This public hearing is held each year to fulfill state statutory requirements for the One and Six Year Streets and Highways Program. The measure is designed to ensure that an integrated system of public roads is provided for the general welfare of the state, counties and municipalities.

Any statements or exhibits submitted at the hearing or in writing to the Public Works and Utilities Department by October 26, 2017, will become a part of the public hearing record. The One Year Program for Fiscal Year 2018 lists projects proposed for final design, right-of-way acquisition, construction or engineering Study. This list of projects for the City of Lincoln includes:

  • South Beltway
  • West “A” Street from SW 40th to Folsom streets
  • Pine Lake Road from 61st Street to Highway 2
  • Rokeby Road from 70th to 84th streets
  • 33rd and Cornhusker and BNSF
  • Pedestrian and bicycle Capital Program
  • East Beltway

The One Year Program also includes Additional Projects which continue through the entire Six Year Program, including:

  • Traffic Optimization and Management Program
  • Studies, Preliminary Engineering, Right Of Way and Statutorily Required Records
  • Safety and Operational Improvement Program
  • Sidewalk Maintenance and Repair
  • Residential Rehabilitation and Intersection Improvement
  • Roadway and Bridge Rehabilitation
  • Potential Impact Fee funded projects.

The Second Through Sixth Year Program, Fiscal Years 2019-2023, identifies any continuation of projects from Year One and Additional Projects that are in some phase of development or will enter the Transportation Planning Process. These projects include:

  • South Beltway
  • West “A” Street from SW 40th to Folsom streets
  • Pine Lake Road from 61st Street to Highway 2
  • 33rd and Cornhusker and BNSF
  • Pedestrian and Bicycle Capital Program
  • 14th / Warlick / Old Cheney Road
  • East Beltway
