56th from Vine to Adams Street Rehabilitation Project

Updated February 2018

Scope of Work

The project’s street improvements will include mill and overlay of the existing asphalt, pavement repairs, joint sealing and new pavement markings. Pedestrian curb ramps will be reconstructed to meet federal and local standards.

The project is tentatively scheduled to begin mid-April 2018. The street is expected to open to traffic in early August.

Access During Construction

Traffic will be maintained in both directions while the sidewalk ramps are under construction. During the mill and overlay (resurfacing) operations, expect phased lane closures that maintain traffic in at least one direction at all times. In response to citizen input, the 56th and Holdrege intersection will be temporarily closed on a Monday during off peak hours to complete the mill and overlay before business hours the next day. The 56th and Leighton intersection will also be closed during off peak hours to complete the joint sealing. The intersections will not be closed at the same time. Message signs will be used for advance notification of any intersection or lane closures.
