Public Meeting Set on Vine Street Improvements

As part of the Antelope Valley Project, two improvement projects will begin soon on Vine Street from 17th to 27th streets. The public is invited to learn more about the projects at a meeting from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 23 at the Malone Community Center, 2032 'U' Street. The projects are:

  • Vine Street will be rebuilt from 17th to 21st streets, and a new bridge will be built for the future Antelope Creek Channel. The utility relocation work will begin in late March, and the new bridge construction will begin in June.
  • Sidewalks, retaining walls and landscaping will be improved on Vine Street from 21st to 27th streets. The improvements include a center turn lane, landscaped medians, ornamental lighting and utility improvements. The intersection of Vine and 27th Street will be rebuilt beginning about July 1, and the project is scheduled to be completed by mid-August.

The two projects are being coordinated to minimize disruption to pedestrians, traffic and the neighborhoods. Four lanes of traffic and two sidewalks will be open during UNL home football games and the State Fair. The anticipated construction schedule and other information about these projects and Antelope Valley are posted on the City’s web site, lincoln.ne.gov.

At the public meeting, representatives from the Joint Antelope Valley Authority, the City of Lincoln, the construction management team and the contractor will be available to answer questions about the projects and about access during construction. No formal presentations will be made.

The meeting room at the Malone Center is accessible for those with disabilities. Those needing special accommodations are asked to call Parsons Brinckerhoff Construction Services at 323-6560.
