Normal from South to 56th - Pavement Repair Project
This is a pavement preservation project intended to maintain and improve the driving surface of the existing roadway facility. The need for the improvement is based upon information from the City of Lincoln's Pavement Management System (overall condition rating) and visual inspections by City staff. Pedestrian curb ramps that do not meet current Federal and local standards will be reconstructed to meet those standards.
April 13, 2017
Improvements resumed Saturday, April 1st on Normal Boulevard from South to S. 56th streets. The work will require lane closures that restrict traffic to single eastbound and westbound lanes along Normal Boulevard. There will be additional lane closures restricting left turn lane movements at the intersection of Normal and South while repairs are completed within the intersection. Beginning Monday, April 17, 40th Street between South Street and Normal Boulevard will be closed for work on sidewalk ramps and pavement repairs. The area is tentatively scheduled to reopen Thursday, April 20. Access will be maintained to businesses at all times.
Scope of Work
Construction will include repairing or removing and replacing deteriorated concrete panels, joints and curbs; and sealing joints and cracks. Other work includes removing and replacing damaged storm sewer inlet tops, curb ramps that do not meet Federal and local standards, and replacement of traffic signal elements impacted by the work.
