"P" St. Streetscape Project

11th Street to Centennial Mall

June 6, 2014 Construction Update

Work efforts continue on the project despite recurring incidents of "unforeseen conditions." As always, every business remains open and accessible during the project. Sidewalk closures do continue to change on a regular basis so please pay attention to the pedestrian routing that is in place when trying to access a particular business.

The work on the south side of the street between 13th and 14th Streets is substantially complete with some remaining items to be finished at each end of the block. Parking stalls and meters should be restored in front of the businesses on this block early next week.

The work on the east side of 14th Street from "O" to "P" Streets is substantially complete. Sidewalks are nearly complete and some of the parking will be restored by early next week. All of the businesses are accessible to pedestrians.

The restoration of sidewalk along the south side of "P" Street from 14th Street to Centennial Mall has been substantially completed. The sidewalk remains closed due to a private contractor restoring a building in the area.

The intersection of "P" Street and Centennial Mall is substantially complete.

The north side of "P" Street from 11th Street to 12th Street is nearing completion. The contractor has restored most of the pavement and has completed the entire storm sewer. The sidewalk corridor is currently open along the building fronts, and access to all businesses is being maintained through the duration of this work. The silva cells are complete and crews are working to finish light pole, landscape curb, bench footings, and sidewalk.

Work along the block from 12th to 13th Streets is underway. A sidewalk corridor has been restored along the block which maintains access to all of the businesses. A large portion of the parking setback is being completed today and this phase will continue for the next couple of months.

The closure of 13th Street between "P" Street and "Q" Street continues. The work will help to keep both the "P" Street Project and the Civic Plaza Project on schedule for the remainder of the summer. Numerous design changes have taken place due to unforeseen conditions in this area but the crew continues to work and accomplish necessary activities.

The contractor is planning to begin work on the north side of "P" Street from 14th Street to Centennial Mall beginning on Monday, June 9. Work on this block is taking place to restore the pedestrian corridor to all of the businesses as well as completing storm sewer ahead of the future project activities. The access to businesses along this block will be maintained throughout this work but the routing of pedestrians will change at times. Please pay attention to the signage in place directing pedestrians where to go. The Lincoln Children's Museum will have their curb drop-off location moved east, still on the north side of "P" Street, between Centennial Mall and 16th Street.
