"P" St. Streetscape Project

11th Street to Centennial Mall

June 23, 2014 Construction Update

There are a number of issues to watch for on "P" Street in the coming weeks. Asphalt patching and pavement markings will be completed during three weeks in the month of July. This work is necessary to remove existing pavement markings and restore them with asphalt, and to patch asphalt in areas where work occurred under the pavement. While this work takes place the traffic on "P" Street will be restricted to one-lane during daytime, off-peak hours. During the week of July 7 the contactor will work to complete asphalt on the north half of the street. During the week of July 14 they will complete asphalt on the south half of the street. During the week of July 21 they will work on completing installation of the permanent pavement and crosswalk markings. Please take extra care while driving and walking in the area during this time.

Work continues to focus on the north side of the street with small items being completed along the south side of the street. Please continue to be aware of the pedestrian routing along "P" Street while accessing businesses.

Work has begun to install the limestone benches on the south side of the street between 11th Street and 12th Street. The contractor will continue to install the benches in areas of the project which have been completed.

The north side of "P" Street from 11th Street to 12th Street is nearing completion. The contractor has restored most of the pavement and sidewalk. The sidewalk corridor is currently open along the building fronts and access to all businesses continues to be maintained.

Work along the block from 12th to 13th Streets is underway. A sidewalk corridor is in place which maintains access to all of the businesses. Most of the parking setback is completed and crews will continue to work on the sidewalks, Silva cells, planting areas, and light pole bases.

The closure of 13th Street between "P" Street and "Q" Street continues. The work will help to keep both the "P" Street Project and the Civic Plaza (Tower Plaza) Project on schedule for the remainder of the summer. Work will need to occur across the alley return on the west side of 13th Street between "P" and "Q" Streets. This work will be performed as quickly as possible to re-open this alley. The work in 13th Street should be completed in the upcoming weeks.

Work on the block from 13th Street to 14th Street is not yet taking place east of the Civic Plaza (Tower Plaza) area. Please watch for an update on this location.

Work continues to take place on the north side of "P" Street from 14th Street to Centennial Mall. The pedestrian corridor to all of the businesses is complete and access to all businesses is available. Storm sewer work is underway and light pole bases are being constructed. The Lincoln Children's Museum curbside drop-off is temporarily located on the north side of "P" Street, between Centennial Mall and 16th Street. Please note the signs directing you to this location.
