Public Invited to Transit Open Houses
The public is invited to attend one of the two open houses on the City's Transit Development Plan (TDP) on Wednesday, March 28. The meetings are from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. and from 4 to 6 p.m., and both are in Room 109a at Energy Square, 1111 'O' Street. The TDP will address the improvements to current and future public transit in Lincoln.
The TDP is being developed by the City-County Planning Department and the StarTran Division of the City Public Works and Utilities Department. Earlier public meetings have led to a draft proposal on transit service options. The public is being asked to review the proposals and provide input on the following:
- changes to current bus routes
- new neighborhood routes
- a new downtown shuttle
- long-term service options
The study is expected to be completed by mid-2007. In addition to attending the open houses, citizens can participate in the process by:
- visiting the City Web site at lincoln.ne.gov (keyword: transit);
- sending an e-mail to plan@lincoln.ne.gov;
- faxing ideas to 441-6377;
- signing up for the mailing list by calling 441-7491;
- calling StarTran at 441-7185; or
- calling the Planning Department at 441-7491.
