Open House Planned on Salt Creek Trunk Sewer Project

The public is invited to celebrate the completion of the Upper Southeast Salt Creek trunk sewer project and the restoration of prairie grass with a walk through the project area in Wilderness Park Tuesday, May 20. The event begins with a short welcome at 5 p.m. near the north end of the project site. Those attending can enter the park by turning east onto an access road off of South 14th Street. Parking is available at the end of the access road, and signs will be posted.

The project has extended the Salt Creek Sanitary sewer system to provide additional capacity for the future growth of Lincoln. A route runs from 14th Street and Yankee Hill Road south along the railroad tracks and ends about 500 feet south of Rokeby Road. The trunk sewer passes through a section of Wilderness Park that was overgrown with brome grass and scrub trees. The area is now in the process of being restored to prairie grass.

Those wanting to attend can contact Suzy Thompson at Olsson Associates at 458-5947 or by e-mail at sthompson@oaconsulting.com. More information on the project is available at lincoln.ne.gov (keyword: projects) and click on the "Wastewater and Solid Waste" section.
