Saunders Avenue Pavement District Saunders Avenue from 12th to 14th Street
About The Project
The Saunders Avenue Pavement District, comprised of property owners on Saunders Avenue, has requested that the City of Lincoln manage its street improvement project.
Under the project, Saunders Avenue, from N. 12th to N. 14th Streets, will become a new, 35-foot-wide concrete street that meets City safety and quality standards.
The new street will include curb, gutters and an underground storm water drainage system to help protect the street from weather damage and improve safety during storm events. Existing driveways with culvert pipes will be replaced with new driveway approaches, graded to facilitate water runoff.
Work is expected to begin mid-May 2018 and be substantially completed by September. Minor grading and seeding operations will continue into fall of 2018.
The majority of work is anticipated to take place within existing right-of-way. Some driveway work will be completed on private property. In those situations, right-of-entry agreements will be secured prior to work beginning.
Phasing & Traffic During Construction
Work will be completed in three (3) construction phases between 12th Street and 14th Street. A portion of Saunders Avenue will be closed for each phase.
Emergency and local access along Saunders Avenue will be maintained during all phases of construction. Access to adjacent properties will also be maintained, although some restrictions may apply. Any necessary restrictions on property access will be coordinated with property and business owners.
