Bloomberg Philanthropies Promotes Live Research

The citizens of Lincoln, Nebraska, are being invited to actively participate in groundbreaking research on the introduction of autonomous vehicles to the U.S. and Midwest transportation systems.

Thanks to a grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies, Lincoln residents will have the opportunity this summer to test-drive a Navya autonomous shuttle and provide their feedback, concerns and questions back to City and State leaders on what, if any, role autonomous vehicles could play in their daily lives.

The 2018 research project is being conducted in two phases:

Stakeholder Rides June 26–29 & July 9–13

Approximately 2,500 people affiliated with 100 community stakeholder groups have been invited by Mayor Chris Beutler to participate in the first phase of a live research project on autonomous vehicles in Nebraska.

By signing up, participants agree to take a shuttle ride with members of their organization, take surveys and provide perspectives on the shuttle, how it operates and where it could go. The information provided by these groups will inform how public rides and research progresses in late July.
