Waste Reduction and Reuse

Reducing waste and toxic products is perhaps the most significant way to save landfill space, conserve resources, prevent injury and protect the environment. The first step to reducing waste at home is simple: If you don’t need it, don’t buy it!

Do you have clothing, furniture, appliances or other household goods you no longer need that can still be used? Give them another life! Take these items to the businesses and organizations listed below instead of throwing them away.

Textile Reuse

Worn-out clothes and textiles (pants, shirts, sheets and towels) with stains, tears or just hopelessly out of style can be repurposed into rags as long as they are clean (laundered), dry and odorless. Take them to any Goodwill store or People’s City Mission toss box location. Visit pcmlincoln.org/donate.
