Artwork Interpretation: "Mazingira ya Vipepeo"

Mazingira ya vipepeo means habitat of the butterfly in Kiswahili, vipepeo meaning butterfly in plural. As the prairie grassland provides habitat for the butterfly, so too does it for the human being, giving not only shelter and sustenance for the physical body, but also for the mind and spirit. As such, we must remember to treat our prairie, and earth, with the gentleness and care we might give the fragile butterfly wing so as not to destroy its magnificence.
