About the Artist
Joel Ebert

My name is Joel Ebert and I go to Lincoln Lutheran High School. I am 15 years old and I have lived in Lincoln my whole life. I have many hobbies and interests, all of which have to do with being in the out of doors. These include fishing, hunting and trapshooting. I also enjoy spending time at my grandparents' farm and listening to country music. My future plans include graduating high school, attending college somewhere close to home and becoming either a diesel mechanic or game warden.

Artwork Interpretation
"Mosquito Fish"

Location: Scheels, 2960 Pine Lake Rd.

This piece was inspired by a photograph of a mosquito fish in an old NEBRASKAland magazine. The fish in the magazine was a muddy yellow color and was surrounded by greenish water. I brightened the fish and added other details such as weeds in the background to make it more interesting. My only hope is that this painting makes people realize how important conservation is and how we should protect the water bodies of Nebraska.
