Design and Construction
Stream Channel Stabilization
Wetland Improvement
Description:
The stream banks in the wetland area north of North Star High School are eroding and causing the site to become inaccessible for an outdoor classroom. Stormwater runoff carries sediment from stream bank erosion directly into Salt Creek. Additionally sediment is being deposited into an existing pond. The main objectives are to create a sustainable and stable wetland and stream channel, create a deeper pond with access, and to provide access to a majority of the stream.
The following elements will be considered in the design:
- Erosion in the stream channel
- Stream stabilization
- Wetland restoration
- Design of a deeper existing pond
- Access to a majority of the stream channel
Project Status:
Conceptual Design Phase. Design to be completed in 2010 with construction anticipated in 2011.
