Open House Planned on Cardwell Branch Watershed

The public is invited to an open house Tuesday, August 21 to discuss the Cardwell Branch Master Plan. The meeting is set for 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Walt Branch Library, 6701 South 14th Street. A presentation will begin at 6 p.m.

The Cardwell Branch is southwest of Lincoln and includes Yankee Hill Lake. The watershed planning study is a continuation of the floodplain mapping project that was completed by the U.S. Geological Survey. The study will develop long-term planning tools and improvement projects to guide sustainable growth in the region. The presentations will include information on flood issues, stormwater quality and stream stability.

For more information on the open house, call Devin Biesecker with the City Public Works and Utilities Department at 441-4955 or Ed Ubben with the Lower Platte South NRD at 476-2729. More information on the project is available at lincoln.ne.gov (keyword: watershed).
