Good, safe, affordable housing is a precious community resource. In Lincoln, much of that resource is found in Lincoln's older, low- to moderate-income neighborhoods. While conscientious landlords have a significant positive impact in these neighborhoods, homeownership appears to be the key factor of well-maintained neighborhood housing. In keeping with that, Housing Rehabilitation programs use funds from several sources (federal, state, and local) for programs that help low- and moderate-income homeowners rehabilitate their homes. Other programs, funded by the Urban Development Department but administered through NeighborWorks®Lincoln, help moderate-income people become successful first-time homeowners.
