The Greater Lincoln Workforce Investment Board, in partnership with the Mayor of the City of Lincoln, works to implement the federal Workforce Investment Act of 1998 at the local level. Its purpose
is "to provide workforce investment activities that increase the employment, retention, earnings and occupational skill attainment by participants, and, as a result, improve the quality of the workforce, reduce welfare dependency, and enhance the productivity and competitiveness" of the workforce.
Membership
Meeting Schedule
The Greater Lincoln Youth Council is a subgroup of the Workforce Investment Board. Members include educators, employers, human service agency representatives, and other individuals having a special interest in youth policy. The Youth Council is responsible for coordinating local youth activities, working to strengthen partnerships between academic and occupational learning, and demonstrating the value and benefits of vocational training.

Both board and council are guided by the policies stated in the Strategic Plan for the Greater Lincoln Local Workforce Investment Board.
