Workforce

The federal Workforce Investment Act funds investment in local workforce areas, primarily through worker training and employment programs. For Lincoln, the local workforce area includes Lancaster and Saunders Counties.

• Worker training and employment programs are delivered through the One Stop Career Center — a single location where almost all worker services are available.
• A local board, the Greater Lincoln Workforce Investment Board, guides and oversees One Stop operations.

The overall purpose of both the One Stop and the Board is to help participating workers get and keep good jobs and to help businesses get and keep good workers. To accomplish that purpose, the One Stop and the Board use the Greater Lincoln Workforce Investment Plan as their blueprint for action.
