Housing and Utility Assistance

In May of 2020, the City of Lincoln, in partnership with the Lincoln Community Foundation, the Nebraska Children and Families Foundation, and UNL-Center on Children, Families, and the Law established the Lincoln Prevention Assistance Common Fund, (LPAC). Because housing resources are limited, this process was designed to ensure that individuals and families with the highest vulnerability and service needs received top priority in rental assistance. A majority of the funding to date has been from the U.S. Treasury’s Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) program which was expended by June 2025. In conformance with the program requirements, the City of Lincoln was able to support 7,505 individuals and families with rental and deposit assistance to help maintain their housing security during the Covid pandemic and the economic recovery that followed.

With the end of the ERA grant program, the last day to submit an application for rental assistance through the LPAC portal was midnight June 15th, 2025. If you submitted by this deadline your application will be reviewed the week of June 16th with all documentation due to case managers by June 24th.

Following the June 15th deadline, other agencies will continue to provide resources to support individuals and families in need. Below is a list of agencies that provide assistance or resources:

Additionally, the Tenant Assistance Programs operated by Legal Aid of Nebraska, UNL College of Law, and the State Bar Association will continue to provide legal assistance to tenants at eviction court.
