Air Quality The mission of the Air Quality Program is to protect human health and the environment upon which all life depends by maintaining good ambient air quality, and to prevent illnesses and diseases that are caused by poor air quality.
Body Art The Body Art Program was established in May of 2002 with the City Council adoption of LMC 8.08 which requires Body Art Procedures to be conducted in a licensed establishment, and requires anyone applying body art to be permitted by the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department (LLCHD).
Child Care Health We work to support local child care settings in achieving healthy and safe practices. We believe in not only preventing injuries and the spread of infectious diseases, but in creating the best possible environments in which children can grow.
Food Safety The Food Safety Program ensures that commercially prepared food is safe to consume. Environmental Health Specialists review plans for new establishments and ensure compliance with the food code. They inspect restaurants, retail food stores, institutional food services and county correctional facilities.
Waste Management & Hazardous Materials Our Section is comprised of skilled Environmental Health Specialists that perform a number of duties to protect and promote the public’s health. Program areas include permitting waste haulers and salvage yards, nuisance conditions, special waste, illegal dumping in the County, Emergency Response HAZMAT team and Lincoln’s Hazardous Waste Collection Center.
Water Quality Our staff works with individual home owners, contractors, realtors, pool operators and businesses within Lancaster County to achieve the mission of the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department to protect and promote the public’s health.
