Pound Middle School Neighborhood Street Improvements

This project will improve several streets in the Pound Middle School Neighborhood. These improvements will include a mill and overlay of the existing surface and base repairs where required. The following streets are included:

  • Gertie Avenue from South 40th to South 47th streets
  • South 44th Street from Gertie Avenue to La Salle Street
  • South 45th Street from Gertie Avenue to Pioneers Boulevard
  • South 47th Street from Claire Avenue to Pioneers Boulevard
  • Claire Avenue from South 47th to South 48th streets

Additional work includes upgrades to the existing curb ramps to comply with the Federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements and other miscellaneous construction items.

Construction is planned to start after school is out in May 2025 be completed by early fall.

Access During Construction

Full street closures or lane closures will be needed during construction. Local access will be maintained to the extent possible.

Pedestrian access will be limited in areas during sidewalk and ramp reconstruction.
