Boards and Commissions

Several community members give back to Lincoln by serving on one of the many volunteer advisory groups providing guidance to the Parks and Recreation Department. Click on the group title to find out more.

Parks and Recreation Advisory Board

To provide advice and recommendations to the Mayor, the City Council and Parks and Recreation Department on long-range program development.

Pedestrian/Bicycle Advisory Committee

To provide advice and recommendations to the Mayor, the City Council and Parks and Recreation Department on the development of a comprehensive plan or a bicycle and pedestrian network. Meets on the second Tuesday at 7:00 AM of every month until May 2024 when meetings will be held during the odd months.

Community Forestry Advisory Board

This board advises the Mayor and City Council on the city's tree resources, encompassing issues such as planting, maintenance, and preservation. The board assists in the development of a comprehensive community forestry management plan and in formulating policies regarding tree and vegetation planting, maintenance, and removal. Lincoln Municipal Golf Committee

The Lincoln Municipal Golf Advisory Committee, a subcommittee of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, is organized to gain cost efficiencies and financial sustainability for Lincoln's golf program, to create opportunities to improve the program, and foster effective communication between Lincoln City Golf program staff, associations in Lincoln and the general public.

Veterans Memorial Garden Advisory Council

To recommend policy to the Mayor, the City Council and Parks and Recreation Department on issues relating to the development, design, programming and preservation of the Veterans Memorial Garden area and all memorials contained in the Garden.

Special Community Groups, Meetings, and Open Houses

Wilderness Park Community Working Group

Purpose: To discuss the needs of Wilderness Park in the context of the goals established, prioritize projects that may be accomplished given the resources available, identify possible sources of additional funding, and identify projects that might be appropriate for volunteer assistance.
