December 15, 1994: Donation was made from retired grocer, Leonard Stransky and wife, Angeleen. The couple said they would give more than $1 million (one of the largest gifts ever given to Lincoln) to the city’s Parks and Recreation Department. Stranksy Park, will feature a waterfall and fountain, playground, gazebo, and picnic area, will be built between 17th Street, Perkins Boulevard, and Harrison Avenue on city park land.
October 6, 2001: Stransky Park will be enhanced with a naturalized stone fountain, gazebo, toddler playground, and landscaping. The improvements are expected to cost more than $500,000, according to the city, and will be dedicated in summer 2002. Leonard Stransky passed away in March 1998.
July 10, 2003: Waterfall is finished and created at Stranksy park. A playground, brick-column fencing, pathways, lighting posts, and seven parking spaces are in the works.
June 20, 2004: Stransky Park becomes site for annual summer concert series.
