Summer Showers

About the Sculpture

Installed in Woods Park in 2004 as part of the Park It at Woods campaign that was sponsored by the Lincoln Tennis Association. Summer Showers is located in the plaza in front of the clubhouse. It shows a group of young children and one dog playing with water hoses, spraying each other.

Three boys participate in a water fight with more kids we cannot see in this metal sculpture. One boys points the hose while another holds it in a kink. The third boy hides behind the two others.

About the Artist

George W. Lundeen is a native of Holdrege, NE. He was a Fulbright-Hayes scholar at the Academia de Belle Arte in Florence, Italy. He also studied at Hastings College and the University of Illinois, where he acquired a masters in Fine Arts. He moved to Loveland, CO in the mid 70s and established his sculpture studio there.
