Lincoln Bike Plan

Background

In February 2018 the Lincoln Bike Plan kicked off with a series of public engagement activities and events. Over the course of a year data and feedback was gathered and compiled, resulting in the final Lincoln Bike Plan, adopted by City Council in February 2019. The primary purpose of the Lincoln Bike Plan was to identify an on-street bicycle network that builds on the City’s extensive trail network and provides safe and low-stress bicycle commuting and recreational opportunities. The plan depicts a comprehensive system of off-street and on-street facilities that will safely connect neighborhoods and destinations and encourage bicycle travel.

The Lincoln Bike Plan recommends the development of a network of on-street facilities to supplement the existing trail network. The types of facilities include:

Implementation 

14th St Bike Lane
  The plan has an ambitious goal of creating 11 miles of bicycle boulevards, 58 miles of sidepaths, 88 intersection enhancements, and 7.7 miles of street reconstruction projects. This work is already underway and was kicked off with Lincoln's first bicycle boulevard on F Street in the South Salt Creek neighborhood.
