Lincoln Police Investigate Fatal Stabbing I 64th & Adams

UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 16-year-old Xavian Sawyer of Lincoln. The suspect has been identified as 14-year-old Stephen D'Amore of Lincoln. He was arrested for first degree murder and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony. The Lancaster County Attorney's Office is treating this as an adult case.

The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) is investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred in northeast Lincoln on Saturday, May 18, 2024.

Just before midnight, LPD officers were dispatched to a residence on North 64th Street, near Adams Street, on report of a fight in-progress. Upon arrival, officers located a 16-year-old Lincoln man who had been stabbed in the chest. Officers rendered aid until he could be transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

A 14-year-old male from Lincoln is currently in custody for the stabbing. No names are being released at this time due to the age of the those involved and to allow for family notification.

Officers are still present and gathering evidence in the 3000 block of North 64th Street and traffic will be restricted in the area for an indefinite amount of time. We ask that citizens consider alternate routes until notified.

No other suspects are being sought, however any witnesses or individuals with further information are encouraged to come forth.
