City Crews Stop Wastewater Sewer Line Overflow May 9

The Wastewater Division of Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) stopped a wastewater overflow about noon Friday, May 9, near North Cotner Boulevard and Vine Street. An obstruction caused wastewater to back up in the sanitary sewer collection system, which allowed wastewater to discharge from a manhole and leak into a portion of Dead Mans Run.

Portion of Pine Lake Road to Close May 12

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) today announced that eastbound Pine Lake Road between South 27th and South 29th streets will close beginning Monday, May 12,  for a Lincoln on the Move street improvement project. This work is scheduled to be completed by mid-June.

Wake Up the Beds

The Lincoln Parks and Recreation Public Garden Section created the event to involve residents in the joy of gardening at Sunken Gardens. Over the years, gardening groups, neighbors, Master Gardeners, 4-H groups and friends of Sunken Gardens have helped with the annual "Wake Up the Gardens" and "Put the Beds to Bed" events.

Mother's Day Bird Walk

May 11, 2025

May is Migratory Bird Month and May 11th is Mothers Day. Let’s celebrate both with a bird walk at the Nature Center. This program will include a slow walk in the wetland and woodland areas looking and listening for springtime birds. Bring your own binoculars or request a pair from the Nature Center.
