Lincoln City Libraries Announces Most Popular Titles for 2023

Lincoln City Libraries (LCL) today announced its most popular titles for 2023. Last year, residents borrowed more than 2.9 million items from the eight LCL locations and Lied Bookmobile.

“Residents continue to see the good value a library card brings in being able to check out materials in person or online, as we saw overall visits increase by 14% and annual check outs increase by 6%. We’re happy to be able to provide what our Lincoln and Lancaster County patrons expect from their public library,” said Ryan Wieber, LCL Director.

The most popular titles for adults in the combined fiction/non-fiction categories are as follows:

  1. “Remarkably Bright Creatures: a Novel” by Shelby Van Pelt— 3,896 checkouts
  2. “Demon Copperhead” by Barbara Kingsolver — 3,442 checkouts
  3. “Lessons in Chemistry” by Bonnie Garmus — 2,584 checkouts
  4. “Spare” by Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex — 2,257 checkouts
  5. “It Starts with Us” by Colleen Hoover — 1,830 checkouts
  6. “A Court of Thorns and Roses” by Sarah J. Maas — 1,591 checkouts
  7. “It Ends with Us” by Colleen Hoover — 1,501 checkouts
  8. “I’m Glad My Mom Died” by Jennette McCurdy — 1,447 checkouts
  9. “Just the Nicest Couple” by Mary Kubica — 1,418 checkouts
  10. “Happy Place” by Emily Henry — 1,399 checkouts

"It's fascinating to see the wide range of genres and authors that resonated with our patrons, reflecting the diverse tastes and interests within the Lincoln community,” said Rebecca Aracena, Support Services Coordinator.

In addition to books, e-books and audiobooks, LCL also loans ukuleles, guitars, video games and movies, and provides free access to dozens of databases.
