Open Houses for Street Improvement Projects Set for March 14, 19

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) invites residents to two open houses in March for upcoming Lincoln on the Move street improvement projects. The schedule is as follows:

Thursday, March 14, 5 to 7 p.m., Sheridan Elementary School, 3100 Plymouth Ave. – A Lincoln on the Move quarter-cent sales tax street improvement project will invest in improvements to the following streets in the Country Club neighborhood:

  • Bradfield Drive from Sheridan Boulevard to South Street
  • Sewell Street from Bradfield Drive to Winthrop Road
  • Rathbone Road from Van Dorn Street to Plymouth Avenue
  • Van Dorn Street from Sheridan Boulevard to the end of the street
  • William Street from Sheridan Boulevard to Van Dorn Street

These improvements include a mill and overlay of the existing surface and base repairs where required. The improvement project is estimated to cost $1 million, to be funded by Lincoln on the Move quarter-cent sales tax and Street Improvement Vehicle Tax funds. Construction is expected to begin in spring.

A water main improvement project will place a cured in place lining in the existing six-inch water main along the following streets:

  • Winthrop Road
  • Sewell Street
  • Puritan Avenue
  • Colonial Drive
  • William Street
  • Rathbone Road
  • Plymouth Avenue
  • Mayflower Avenue
  • Alden Avenue

The water main project is estimated to cost $2.1 million, to be funded by Lincoln Water System funds. Construction is expected to begin in spring.

Tuesday, March 19, 5 to 7 p.m., Messiah Lutheran School, 1800 S. 84th St. – This Lincoln on the Move quarter-cent sales tax street improvement project on South 84th Street between Pinedale Avenue and Sandalwood Drive includes a mill and overlay of the existing surface and concrete repairs. Additional work with other funding sources will include upgrades to the existing curb ramps to comply with the Federal Americans with Disabilities Act requirements. The improvement project is estimated to cost $2.6 million. Construction is expected to begin in spring.

Lincoln on the Move is a six-year street investment effort focused on enhancing Lincoln’s street infrastructure that will dedicate an additional $96 million to street projects in Lincoln through 2025.
