Two-day competition adjusted for expected inclement weather

Lincoln Parks and Recreation today announced that the youth Swim and Dive City Championship at Woods Pool, 33rd and “J” streets, has been adjusted due to expected inclement weather on Saturday, July 20. The revised schedule combines all activities into the Friday, July 19 event.

The revised schedule is as follows:

  • The dive meet will remain as scheduled on Friday morning, with warmups starting at 8 a.m. and the meet beginning at 9 a.m.

  • The swim team warmups will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday, followed by the meet starting at 3:30 p.m.

“Due to the predicted forecast of rain Saturday morning, the Saturday morning session of the City Championship is being moved to Friday evening,” said Melissa Lindeman, Recreation Coordinator. “Each year, over 600 divers and swimmers representing 15 teams gather at Woods Pool to compete with peers of the same age bracket over a two-day meet. The annual competition is something the swimmers look forward to and work hard for all summer long. It was important to all that everyone has an opportunity to compete.”
