Untreated wastewater from private sewer line released into Salt Creek
The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department (LLCHD) today updated a public health advisory from Monday, March 17, to clarify that the release of untreated wastewater into Salt Creek was from a private sewer line. The untreated wastewater was released into surface waters near North 20th Street and North Gate Road. This water flows into Salt Creek near North 27th and Fairfield streets.
The release occurred between March 16 and 17. Upon notification, immediate actions were taken to stop the release and address the affected areas. However, LLCHD urges residents to use caution and avoid direct contact with the surface waters near the release site and Salt Creek. Children and pets should also be kept away from the affected waters to prevent exposure to potential contaminants.
