Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) today announced that the North First Street bridge over Oak Creek, between Charleston Street and Cornhusker Highway, will close for maintenance beginning Monday, April 28. The project is expected to be completed this summer.
The recommended detour route is Sun Valley Boulevard to North 11th Street to Cornhusker Highway to North First Street.
Pedestrians may use the bridge during the project, but brief closures may be necessary. Advance notice will be provided as needed. Business access will be maintained via Sun Valley Boulevard and Charleston Street. Those traveling to the Sandhills Global Youth Complex, 2100 N. First St., should access North First Street via Cornhusker Highway.
Digital signs will alert traffic to upcoming work and closures. Travelers are encouraged to seek an alternate route and exercise caution around this closure. LTU appreciates the public’s patience during this closure and reminds residents that project dates are subject to change due to weather and unforeseen circumstances.
