33rd from Holdrege to Madison Mill, Overlay and Storm Drainage Improvements

Updated May 26, 2017

Intent of Project

This is a drainage structure and pavement preservation project intended to improve the driving surface of the existing roadway. The need for the improvement is based upon information from the City of Lincoln’s Pavement Management System (overall condition rating) and visual inspections by City staff. Pedestrian curb ramps that do not meet current Federal and local standards will also be reconstructed to meet those standards under this project.

Scope of Work

The planned construction will include repairing or replacing deteriorated concrete base, curb, milling and replacing the asphalt surface. Other work includes replacing damaged storm drainage structures and inlet tops, impacted sidewalks, and reconstructing curb ramps to adhere to requirements set forth by the Americans with Disability Act (ADA).

Preliminary Plan Not Final – Subject to Change

Project Schedule

Pavement repair along 33rd Street from Holdrege Street to Madison Avenue is expected to begin on June 19, 2017 and be completed by mid-October. Dates and phasing are subject to change.

All work is anticipated to take place within existing right-of-way and easements.

Phasing & Traffic During Construction

Work will be completed via four (4) construction phases between Holdrege Street and Madison Avenue.

Phase 1 & 2:
Intersection of 33rd Street and Holdrege Street.
Phase 3:
33rd Street north of Holdrege Street to just south of Huntington Avenue.
Phase 4:
33rd Street south of Huntington Avenue to Madison Avenue. A single day closure on 33rd Street to Highway 6 will also be required to update railroad crossing pavement markings.

Emergency and local access will be maintained during construction. Access to adjacent properties will be maintained and any access restrictions will be coordinated with property and business owners. Properties with multiple entrances will have one entrance open at all times, unless otherwise agreed to by the property owner. Pedestrian access to businesses, residences, and trails will be maintained throughout the duration of the project via alternate pedestrian routes and or detours.
