56th and Yankee Hill Road, Lincoln Safety Improvement Project
The purpose of this project is to mitigate crashes and improve traffic operations at 56th and Yankee Hill Road.
Scope of Work
This project includes construction of a roundabout at the intersection of South 56th Street and Yankee Hill Road, including the approach roadways that would extend approximately ¼ miles east and west of the intersection along Yankee Hill Road and approximately ¼ miles north and south of the intersection along South. 56th Street. Additional work includes storm sewer and drainage improvements.

Access During Construction
This project will be constructed under a full street closure and will utilize a detour for traffic on South 56th Street and Yankee Hill Road. The Yankee Hill Road detour will use South 40th Street, Pine Lake Road and South 70th Street. The 56th Street detour will use Saltillo Road, South 70th Street and Pine Lake Road. Access to adjacent properties will be maintained during construction but may be limited at times due to phasing requirements.

Construction is scheduled to begin June 15, 2020, with the work substantially complete and open to traffic in November 2020. Final completion is anticipated by June 2021. This project is being coordinated with the adjacent 56th Street from Bridle Lane to Thompson Creek Boulevard Project to minimize impacts to area residents and the traveling public.
