West Fletcher Avenue and Highway 34 Safety Improvement Project

Updated Dec. 18, 2018

Project Overview

This project includes construction of two right-turn lanes and street resurfacing in the area of W Fletcher Avenue and Highway 34. The turning lanes are designed to increase safety and improve efficiency at the intersection. Resurfacing will take place along W Fletcher Ave between Highway 34 and N 1st Street to fix and prevent potholes and cracks. Other improvements include adding ADA-accessible sidewalks and upgrading street lights.

Access During Construction

Traffic will be maintained in all directions during turn lane construction. Motorists will be advised of periodic lane closures as required. During resurfacing on W Fletcher Avenue, traffic will be shifted into a head-to-head configuration, allowing the contractor to perform work on one side of the street while traffic is maintained on the other.

Construction began September 4, 2018. All lanes and turn lanes are scheduled to open to traffic by Friday, December 21, 2018. Short duration lane closures will likely be necessary in the future to continue minor work adjacent to the roadway.
