America Recycles Day 2018

The City of Lincoln Solid Waste Management Division of Public Works and Utilities and local recyclers will hold a number of events in November, planned in conjunction with America Recycles Day (ARD) – November 15. These events will provide various opportunities for Lincoln citizens to contribute to recycling efforts, as well as dispose of unwanted waste.

Thursday, November 15, 2018

Wood Waste Collection
8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Hofeling Enterprises, 2200 Folsom Court

Hofeling Enterprises will accept residential tree limbs and untreated wood at no charge on Thursday, November 15. The debris will be ground up and reused as landscape mulch for area homes and businesses.

American Recycling Small Appliance Collection
9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
American Recycling, 5001 S 16th Street

American Recycling will be accepting small appliances free of charge for America Recycles Day 2018. Small appliances will include microwaves, small refrigerators, toasters, coffee makers etc… All electronics are accepted, however, there will be disposal fees for TVs, CRT computer monitors and large standalone copiers. Large appliances will be accepted at a discounted rate.

Eastridge Parent/Teacher Organization’s 6th Annual Holiday Lights Recycling Drive
Over 50 locations throughout Lincoln. See website for details.

10% of funds raised from recycled holiday lights will be donated to the Lincoln Fire Fighters Operation. Collection boxes are placed at over 50 collection locations on behalf of Eastridge Elementary PTO. Lights can be in working or non-working condition. Extended drop-off at Eastridge Elementary School, 6245 “L” Street, is available through January 14th.

From America Recycles Day (Nov. 15, 2018) to Earth Day (April 22, 2019), bring scrap metal to Sadoff Iron and Metal Company or Alter Metal Recycling to have it recycled. All types of scrap metal will be accepted, including aluminum and tin cans, pots and pans, appliances, wiring, sinks, bathtubs and electric motors. When you arrive, tell them that you would like to donate all or part of the revenue from your metal to the LPS Recycling Program. Funds raised will help LPS replace worn out steel recycling containers. The old containers will be recycled as scrap metal and replaced with containers manufactured from recycled steel, closing the recycling loop.

Lincoln’s Hazardous Waste Center accepts household hazardous waste by appointment only on the first Wednesday and the third Saturday of each month. The Center accepts the same waste items collected at the mobile events, such as pesticides, old gasoline, cleaning products, aerosol containers and items containing mercury.
