Fireworks Photographers Can Shoot For Prizes

Amateur photographers will again have an opportunity to win prizes for their shots of the official Fourth of July fireworks display at Holmes Lake. The contest is sponsored by the City of Lincoln, Images II Inc. and The Framing Studio.

Judges from local businesses will select the first-place winner, who will receive a 16-inch by 20- inch matted and framed enlargement of the winning photo. The first-place photo may also be used on the official 2001 Fourth of July celebration poster. The second-place winner will receive an 11-inch by 14-inch matted and framed enlargement.

Last year's winner was Joe Clouse, and his winning photo is being used in the poster for the 2000 celebration.

All photos must be taken on 35-mm color film and submitted in a negative or slide format with an accompanying full-color 8-inch by 10-inch photo for judging. All entries become the property of the city, and those wishing to have their photos returned must include a self-addressed stamped envelope. Entries must include the name, age, address and daytime phone number of the entrant. Entrants under age 18 must also include the signature of a parent or guardian.

Entries must be postmarked by Monday, July 24, 2000 and should be sent to: "Fourth Photo Contest," c/o the Mayor's Office, 555 S. 10th, Lincoln, NE 68508. A complete listing of the rules and an application form are available at the sponsoring businesses, the information desk on the first floor of the County/City Building, 555, S. 10th and at the Jaycees information booth at the Fourth of July celebration at Holmes Lake.
