Mayor Beutler will cut the ribbon on the "P" Street Improvement Project following a program at the Lincoln Community Foundation Tower Square at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday October 8 at the new park at 13th and "P."
Because of the City's intent to keep "P" Street open for business, the street will not be closed for the ribbon-cutting. During a stoplight, a team of trained ribbon-handlers will stretch the ribbon across the street, and the Mayor will jog to the center of the street to cut it. (Do not attempt this on your own.)
The program and ribbon-cutting will kick off a week of special events organized by the Downtown Lincoln Association (DLA) to celebrate the project's completion.
"The 'P' Street Week celebration is a great way to thank our outstanding downtown businesses as well as residents for their patience during this major improvement project," Mayor Beutler said. "I encourage the public to come downtown to see the new look, do some shopping and enjoy the great activities the DLA has planned."
Tower Square will be dedicated later this year when the lighting has been installed for Jun Kaneko's "Ascent."
