The Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department is extending hours at Pioneers Park for the next three nights to allow the public to better view the annual Perseids meteor shower. The park, which regularly closes at 11 p.m. this time of the year, will be open until 1 a.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings. The next three nights are expected to be the peak of the meteor shower. A new moon and clear skies are expected to create favorable viewing conditions this year.
