The Hyde Memorial Observatory at Holmes Lake will be closed Saturday, October 31 for Halloween and Saturday, November 28 for the Thanksgiving holiday. The Observatory is generally open Saturdays from 7 to 10 p.m. October through March and from 8 to 11 p.m. April through September.
The Observatory is devoted exclusively to public viewing, and admission is free. It is operated by the City Parks and Recreation Department with the assistance of volunteers and donations. Visitors can view the night skies through three telescopes. Astronomy programs are presented throughout the evening, and the programs change monthly.
