The public is invited to volunteer Saturday April 23 to help clean up the route for the May 1 Lincoln Marathon and Half Marathon. Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. at the Lincoln Parks and Recreation offices, 2740 "A" Street. After receiving instructions, they will disperse to park areas along the Marathon route. Participants should be prepared to drive to areas such as Holmes Lake, the Helen Boosalis Trail and Sheridan Boulevard as well as Capitol Parkway locations. Maps and directions will be provided.
The event is open to new and current Parks and Recreation volunteers. For more information or to register, send an email to ParksVolunteers@lincoln.ne.gov. New volunteers are asked to fill out a volunteer application form and bring it to the event or submit it with their registration.
Volunteers are asked to bring gloves and wear sturdy shoes. Tools and materials will be provided. If the weather is bad, all registered volunteers will be contacted with a new date.
