Those attending the 38th annual Mayor's Arts Awards Wednesday, June 15 will see and hear a variety of stories from those whose lives have been touched by the power of the arts. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. on the main stage at the Lied Center for Performing Arts. The Mayor's Arts Awards is produced by the Lincoln Arts Council (LAC), which has been championing the arts, connecting people and changing lives since 1968.
Tickets are $60, and the ticket deadline is Thursday, May 26 (seating is limited). For reservations and more information, visit artscene.org or contact Lori McAlister at the LAC (email@example.com, 402-434-2787).
Artist Wendy Bantam has created an "ARTzilla" to serve as the theme for the event and for the video featuring the honorees, created by Melissa Epp and award-winning filmmaker Alexander Jeffrey. Jon and Taryn Vanderford from KOLN-KGIN TV will emcee the event, and Mayor Chris Beutler will present the awards with LAC Chair Christine Wilcox.
The evening also includes an instrumental performance by 15-year Vladimir Nikolaev to showcase the impact of the Music Outreach Program of Lincoln Music Teachers Association, one of this year's honorees. Lincoln Industries is sponsoring "The Wine Vine," a raffle prize created by the firm's staff artist Loi Van Vo. The life-size grape vine serves as a unique wine rack. More information about the prize is available at the LAC website.
