All traffic lanes on Old Cheney Road from 40th Street to Highway 2 were opened Thursday, about one week ahead of schedule. The pavement repair project started April 27. Some periodic daytime lane closures will be necessary to complete minor work, such as median sealing and seeding.
Project Manager Erin Sokolik with the Public Works and Utilities Department said the cooperation of businesses in the project area was a factor in the early completion.
The project included repairing or replacing deteriorated concrete panels and curbs, sealing joints and cracks and milling the concrete surface before overlaying with asphalt. Other work will include the replacement of damaged storm drainage inlet tops, utility adjustments and restoration of traffic signal elements impacted by the work.
