South 9th Street between South and Van Dorn streets will close at 9 a.m. Monday, September 25, for storm drain pipe construction. The street is scheduled to reopen October 4. The recommended detour is South 13th Street.
The project was coordinated with an ongoing water main project on Park Avenue to minimize the impact to residents and businesses. The storm drainage project extends from the west side of the 9th Street and Park Avenue intersection to 10th Street.
The new storm drainage pipe is the second phase of a project to replace an aging system in the area with larger, more durable concrete drainage pipes. When complete, the new system will reduce street and property flooding. It is funded from the 2016 Stormwater Improvement Bond.
Public Works and Utilities Department appreciates the public's patience during construction. For more information on the project, contact Jared Nelson, City Project Manager, at 402-441-4955 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
