Fall Prevention Classes Begin March 7 at Maxey Senior Center

The public is invited to participate in fall prevention classes from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesdays throughout March at the JoAnn Maxey Senior Center in the Malone Community Center, 2032 "U" St. All classes are free and open to the public, and all ages are welcome.

The "Only Leaves Should Fall" classes are a modified version of the "Stepping On - Building Confidence and Reducing Falls" workshops. Topics to be covered include fall prevention exercise, home and outdoor safety, medication safety and vision. Topics for the four sessions are:

March 7 - Living at Home Safely, and How to Get Up From a Fall will be presented by Physical Therapist Sue Jeffrey.

March 14 - Safe Shoes and Clothes, Medications and Fall Risk will be presented by Geriatric Nurse Practitioner Rita Antonson.

March 21 - Personal Safety Systems will be presented by Suzanne Frasier, Aging Partners.

March 28 - Vision and Fall Risk will be presented by Larry Roos, Nebraska Commission for the Visually Impaired.
