Nature Center Issues Updates, Program Reminders

Spring hours at the Chet Ager Building at the Pioneers Park Nature Center begin Monday, April 2. From then until November 5, the hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, and noon to 4:30 p.m. Sundays. Other Center hours include the following:

Pets and bikes are not allowed on the trails, and racks for bicycles are available next to the parking lot. Two events remain in March:

Saturday, March 17, Saturday with the Naturalist, 2 to 3 p.m.

Nature Center Naturalist Jamie Kelley will guide you on a hike to explore the trails, see what is in bloom, look for signs of wildlife and enjoy the current season. Participants should dress for the weather. The program fee is $5 per person, and the registration deadline is March 14. The program is also scheduled for 2 p.m. on April 21 and May 19.

Saturday, March 31, Wild Adventures, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Join the Friends of Pioneers Park Nature Center and the Nebraska Wildlife Federation for our annual spring Wild Adventures festival. This year's theme focuses on Nebraska's endangered species and the rare or unique landscapes that these animals depend on for survival. The event features hands-on activities, educational booths and special presentations. A food vendor will also be onsite, and payment is cash only. This is a free event, and no registration is required.
