Public Invited to Volunteer Fair for Seniors at Gateway Mall

Aging Partners invites senior citizens, their families and the general public to the "Just Ask" Volunteer Fair from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, May 15 at the Gateway Mall, 6100 "O" St., in the Center Court area. Those who attend will learn about volunteer opportunities available to seniors from over 30 Lincoln-based non-profit organizations.

"The talents of seniors are an underutilized resource when it comes to volunteering," said Randy Jones, Aging Partners Director. "We welcome and applaud the work that Leadership Lincoln and VolunteerLinc are doing to help match up older adults with organizations and causes that serve the community and make a difference in the lives of others."

In January, a Leadership Lincoln Fellows XXXIII program committee conducted a survey asking older adults what inspired them to volunteer. Feedback varied, but a common theme was that they'd never been asked. The volunteer fair is the culmination of the committee's Just Ask: Connecting Retirees with Causes that Matter initiative.

The event is presented in partnership by Leadership Lincoln, VolunteerLinc, Aging Partners and Gateway Mall. For more information on the "Just Ask" Volunteer Fair or other volunteer opportunities, contact VolunteerLinc at 402-441-2100.
