Beginning Friday, one lane of traffic will be open in each direction on Pine Lake Road, from South 61st to South 70th streets. Traffic will be head-to-head between South 61st Street and the railroad tracks. This area remains an active construction site and will have a 35 mph construction zone speed limit. Pine Lake Road, from South 70th Street to Highway 2, will remain closed for winter work.
Improvements include widening the street from two to four lanes, adding roundabouts at Blanchard Boulevard and South 70th Street, installing railroad crossing gates, adding pedestrian and bike trail under crossings, building ADA-accessible sidewalks, and upgrading street lights to LED. The project is expected to be complete in fall 2019 and is funded through the City's Capital Improvement Program.
