The Pioneers Park Nature Center, 3201 S. Coddington Ave., invites the public to the following events in February:
Herbal Remedies: Hops Tincture Making Workshop, Saturday, February 9, 1 to 3 p.m.
Alex Svoboda, a clinical herbalist for Arise Botanicals, will give demonstrate herbal tincture making. Participants will create and take home their own concentrated herbal extracts made with hops and learn about the health benefits of the herb. Chemistry, botany and earth-based approaches to healing will also be discussed. The program fee is $25 per person, and the registration deadline is February 6.
Great Backyard Bird Count, Saturday, February 16, 9 to 11 a.m.
Birders of all levels are invited to participate in this national program, established by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the National Audubon Society. Participants will meet at the Chet Ager Building to count birds at the feeders in the bird garden. A guided hike will follow to count and identify birds along the trails, weather permitting. The suggested donation is $5, and registration is not required.
