Beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, March 18, Pine Lake Road, from South 61st to 66th streets, will be closed for completion of a safety improvement project. Pine Lake Road, from S. 70th Street to Highway 2, will also remain closed. Access to homes and businesses will be maintained. Traffic will be detoured to Highway 2 at 56th and 70th streets. This two-year improvement project is scheduled to be complete in October.
The project is designed to improve safety and traffic flow by widening Pine Lake Road from two to four lanes, adding a roundabout at Blanchard Boulevard, installing railroad crossing gates, adding pedestrian and bike trail under crossings, building ADA-accessible sidewalks, and upgrading street lights to LED. The project is being funded through the City's Capital Improvement Program.
